Things I'm Going to Miss About Japan
So I am leaving in like a week and a half and it hasn’t quite hit me yet. But I know as soon as I leave for Tokyo the rest of the time will fly away. Despite being homesick a lot while here, I am going to miss a lot of things. Of course I will miss the friends I have made here. The Australians, other Americans, British, etc. etc., and the basketball team… It’ll be hard to say...
Cram Time
This weekend was absolutely exhausting. Thursday was (Yes, my weekends start on Thursdays) a Lord of the Rings marathon that started way too late at night. Friday was going to watch my friend DJ at this really awesome bar called Caffeine. Saturday was a day trip to Asahiyama Zoo. And Sunday was a day trip to the amusement park, Rusutsu. I had so much fun, and the busier I get, the more apparent it...
Word of Advice to Those Who Travel
Don’t be afraid to screw up, people love helping dumb foreigners.
Fourth of July
Sorry, I haven’t posted in a while (*cough* parents *cough cough*). I’ve been busy trying to enjoy life here and do as much as I possibly can before I leave. I admit, I’ve been a bit homesick. I think I’m just missing the sunshine and lake. Friends and family as well, of course.
But yeah, a lot has happened since I’ve last posted. I celebrated the 4th this year with...

Behind on Posting... clearly.
So obviously I haven’t posted a ton lately, and well that’s because I’ve been doing a lot. I went to the zoo and a kimono event the other day, so I have tons of pictures to show you. They’ll be up soon. Both just require a huge explanation and it’s too late for that. It’s 10:58pm here, 9:58am eastern stand time. I’ll get them up soon I promise!
Karaoke
I forgot to add this to my previous post. Karaoke really is a great, affordable activity to do in Japan. Right now, it’s the number one thing I want to bring back. For 7 hours of Karaoke, it was only about $12 US dollars. I think that’s how much it was for unlimited, we just left after that long. It’s an activity that would be great for college kids, sober, it is a great...

Basketball! :D
I joined the basketball team here, imagine that, and I am so happy I did. This is how teams are suppose to function. While I can’t technically play in official games, because I’m not on the roster, it’s nice to just be a part of the team. Sportsmanship is what makes up this team. It’s not petty fighting and blame placing, everything they do is as a team. The sportsmanship...
Downtown Sapporo
Last night a bunch of us went downtown to hang, like all other young adults do on the weekend, to a place called Susukino. Susukino is the shopping/entertainment district of downtown Sapporo. There are bars, ramen shops, small shops, arcades, karaoke, fresh markets, various food stands, and oodles of people just enjoying life. It was a lot of fun, and a lot different then I expected.
Sususkino is...
Blah Blah Blah Go Blah Blah Blah Mushroom?
Okay, so I’ve been in Japan for about a week now. I’m not sure how to count the days I sort of missed but not really because of the time zone change on the way here but anyways… Things are going good, I think? It’s one thing to learn a language in a classroom and it’s another thing to go to a foreign country and speak with the natives. It’s really hard, I know...
Karaoke
I now understand why Japanese are obsessed with Karaoke. It is sooo much fun, like honestly, better than what people here do for fun. Ball State needs a karaoke place. So when they said we were going karaoke-ing I thought it would just be at like a bar with a bunch of people drunk and laughing at the person on stage singing. That’s not at all what it is here. The place we when to was an...
Coming Soon... Karaoke
I went Karaoke-ing last night with a bunch of friends, and just let me say it was not at all what I expected. It was a blast and everyone did so well. The autotune on the mics helped a bit of course. Karaoke is soo much cooler, and classier than it is in the US. But I want to eat. So I can’t explain now.
Fun Fact
Don’t bite your noodles in half (so that you can eat them easier with chopsticks) in Japan. It means you want to die. But don’t worry, slurping them is extremely polite. You will get some odd looks if you bite them……….
